The Sierra Calderona campground is located near the Sierra Calderona Natural Park, one of the largest in the Community of Valencia. Formed by a mountain chain located in the basins of the Palancia and Turia rivers, it covers 60,000 hectares and contains a wealth of local protected flora and fauna that are representative of the Mediterranean. There, you can find many endangered species such as the legendary peregrine falcon, the eagle owl and Bonelli's eagle.

The most outstanding flora include several varieties of pine, cork oak and kermes oak. On lower strata, there is honeysuckle, sarsaparilla, rosemary and lavender.

Leaving the Sierra Calderona campground you can go up into the mountains, some of which are over 1,000 metres high. One point of interest is the Pico del Garbí, a splendid observation point from whose heights, on a clear day, you can see much of the Mediterranean seaboard from the Cabo de Oropesa (Castellón) to Cabo de San Antonio (Alicante).

But this area offers more than just mountain scenery: 10 minutes away from the campground is La Marjal del Moro, a small wetland that is internationally renowned for its more than 50 species of birds. It also has the largest known population of "Limonium Dufourii", a plant that is native to the Community of Valencia and that is among the most endangered European flora.

A very different type of landscape is the Canet d'en Berenguer beach. Very close to Estivella, it is one of the few areas on the Mediterranean coast with well-preserved sand dunes. There, you can observe animal and plant species that live only in these natural reserves.
